Memory protection: a priority for healthy ageing

The role of polyphenolic compounds and the scientific evidence of the registered active ingredient Memophenol® in improving cognitive function and preventing cognitive decline.

Memory is one of the most important cognitive functions of the human brain. It allows information to be stored, processed and retrieved, facilitating learning, decision-making and adaptation to the environment. However, over time and due to factors such as stress, ageing or unhealthy lifestyle habits, memory capacity is often affected. For this reason, the protection and maintenance of cognitive function have become an area of great interest within scientific research and specialised nutrition.

In recent years, numerous studies have highlighted the role of certain natural compounds, especially polyphenols, in protecting the brain and improving memory. These bioactive compounds possess antioxidant and neuroprotective properties that may contribute to preserving neuronal health and promoting communication between the cells of the nervous system.

In this context, Memophenol® emerges as a registered active ingredient developed from a specific combination of plant extracts rich in polyphenols. Specifically, this formulation integrates grape extract (Vitis vinifera) and wild blueberry extract (Vaccinium angustifolium), two natural sources of phenolic compounds widely studied for their potential benefits on brain function.

One of the most relevant aspects of Memophenol® is that its efficacy has been evaluated in different controlled clinical studies. In a multicentre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 215 adults aged between 60 and 70 years with age-related cognitive decline participated. After six months of supplementation with a daily dose of 600 mg, the results showed significant improvements in both short- and long-term memory. These findings suggest that supplementation with this polyphenol complex may contribute to rejuvenating memory function by approximately a decade compared to baseline values.

Another clinical trial evaluated the effect of a lower dose of 300 mg per day over a period of 24 weeks in 143 volunteers aged between 60 and 80 years with mild cognitive impairment. The results indicated significant improvements in executive functions, information processing speed, visuospatial episodic memory and learning capacity. These data reinforce the hypothesis that the polyphenols present in Memophenol® may support various aspects of cognitive function even at moderate doses.

Clinical evidence of polyphenols in memory improvement

Research has also explored the effects of Memophenol® in younger populations. In a crossover, placebo-controlled clinical study conducted in university students, a single dose of 600 mg showed improvements in parameters such as cognitive accuracy, working memory and concentration in examination situations. Positive effects were observed approximately 90 minutes after intake, suggesting a relatively rapid action on certain cognitive processes.

From a physiological perspective, the polyphenols present in Memophenol® may contribute to brain protection through different mechanisms. These include improving cerebral blood flow, stimulating synaptic plasticity and supporting neurogenesis, that is, the formation of new neurons. These processes are essential for maintaining learning and memory capacity throughout life.

Memory protection is a key current challenge in the context of population ageing and increasing cognitive demands of modern life. MEMOSTAR INFINITE and MEMOSTAR FOCUS contain Memophenol®, supported by scientific studies, as the active ingredient Memophenol®, representing a promising approach to support cognitive function and contribute to brain well-being. However, its use should always be understood as part of a comprehensive approach that includes a balanced diet, regular physical activity, mental stimulation and healthy lifestyle habits.

In this context, formulations such as MEMOSTAR INFINITE, which incorporate Memophenol® supported by clinical studies, represent an advanced strategy to support memory and cognitive function.
